Osun may pay new minimum wage

Osun State Government

There are indications that the Osun State Government may pay the new minimum wage after pledging to support labour in enhancing the welfare of civil servants.

Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola made the pledge when the Lagos Zonal Council Chairman of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, Mr. Nojeem Korodo, paid him a courtesy visit in Osogbo on Wednesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Oyinlola said the government would collaborate with any labour organisation working to improve the conditions of its members.

He also promised to provide an enabling environment for labour unions to work and thrive in the state.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kazeem Adio, the governor said NUPENG was central to the needs of Nigerians considering its role in the oil industry.
