Obasanjo, Andrew Young, Femi Pedro in closed-door meeting

Obasanjo in closed-door meeting
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his American friend, Mr. Andrew Young, on Tuesday held a brief closed- doors meeting with a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Femi Pedro.

Young, an American politician, diplomat and pastor, had served as a Mayor of Atlanta while he was once the US’ Ambassador to the United Nations.

The meeting by the trio was held inside the Presidential Lounge of the Murtala Muhammed Airport International, Lagos, shortly after the arrival of Obasanjo and Young from Abuja aboard a private jet.

Prior to the arrival of Pedro at the presidential wing, Obasanjo, in his characteristic manner, engaged journalists in comic display and introduced his long time friend, Young.

Shortly after introducing Young to journalists, Obasanjo relieved the fond memories of his late wife, Stella.

He said her memory would continue to linger in his mind, adding that the vacuum created by her death was yet to be filled in the family.

He said that he would continue to remember all that Stella stood and lived for.

Stella died in a Spanish hospital on October 23, 2005.

While the ex-president was moving to the inner lounge of the presidential wing, journalists handed him a photograph contained in an album displayed at the Austrian Museum of Ethonology, since 1977.

Sighting the photograph, the ex- president said, ”That was when I was Olusegun Obasanjo, in the glorious days. I dey kampe, but now they say I am Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, they have even added Aremu.”
