NNPC, others donate N30m laboratories to school

The Chairman of Famfa Oil Company, Mrs Aka Edu, on Wednesday said oil companies in Nigeria were committed toward assisting the youth to acquire education.

Edu said this in Dutsinma, Katsina State, at the inauguration of three blocks of science laboratories worth N30m constructed by three oil companies at the Government Science Secondary School, Dutsinma.

The laboratories were constructed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, in collaboration with Famfa Oil Company and Chevron Nigeria Limited.

She said that the project was among 17 being executed by the oil companies as part of their social responsibilities to their host communities.

Edu, however, called on the school authority to ensure maximum utilisation of the facilities in order to enhance the teaching and learning of science in the school.

Gov. Ibrahim Shema of Katsina, represented by Alhaji Abdullahi Garba, the state Commissioner for Education, said that the state government had expended over N11bn for the completion and equipping of Umaru Musa Yar‘Adua University.
