‘The Struggle Can’t Ruin Our Marriage’

IT is indeed an irony that whereas Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, the leader of a once-banned and later unbanned Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) speaks with a soft feminine but sharp voice, his wife, Lolo Omekadiya Uwazuruike, speaks with a husky and strong one.
Her vital statistics will pass her off instantly as a prospective super model waiting to be snatched by fashion talent hunters. Her beauty and grace is a fine artist’s delight any day.
When this woman of wit sat down in a very secure garage at the MASSOB Secretariat in Agunlejika area of Lagos State to grant The Guardian this interview, she left no one in any doubt, that like her very articulate lawyer husband, she too had a good grasp of socio-political issues in Nigeria, and was clear-minded about the objectives of MASSOB to establish a sovereign state of Biafra.
Asked whether she is like her husband, a radical lawyer, she looks up with an infectious smile and replies empathically, “No, I am not a lawyer like my husband. I am actually a teacher by profession. In fact, I really love to teach.”
