Adamu deserves life ban – Gombe

ABUJA — Former Gombe State FA chairman, Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe has said that Dr. Amos Adamu, a former  executive committee member of FIFA,  ought to be banned for life just as he alerted that there are many Adamus in the sports circle that need to be flushed out.
While reacting to the three-year ban and a 10,000 Swiss franc fine slammed on Adamu by FIFA’s Ethics Committee over an alleged money for vote scandal, Gara Gombe said the ban and fine indicated that he was liable to the corruption charge.
“A court cannot pronounce a fine on a suspect if there was no evidence confirming that he or she was liable to the charges brought against the accused. FIFA’s Ethics Committee sat for three days before they came out with the  decision.
“Amos Adamu is not alone in this corruption. Now that his cup is full at the international scene, I will urge the National Sports Commission to beam its focus on the other federations, the Nigeria Football Federation especially, as there are many more Amos Adamus still there.  Adamu’s scandal is a disgrace to the entire black world”, Gara Gombe said.
