Blast rocks Delta Government House

THE serenity of Government House, Asaba Delta State was disrupted yesterday by a blast at the Guest House near the official residence of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
Uduaghan was however not in his office, which is some 220 metres away from the scene. He was reportedly in Abuja for the Governors’ Forum meeting.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor (CPS), Sunny Ogefere, yesterday confirmed the development.
Ogefere wrote: “At about 3 p.m. this afternoon there was an explosion at the Asaba Guest House Asaba, a commercial outfit of the Delta State Government located near the Government House.
“Two of the rooms upstairs were damaged from the impact of the explosion. There were no injuries and no casualties recorded.

Security agencies have already moved to the scene of the incident. They have cordoned off the premises and commenced investigations to ascertain the nature of the explosion.”
Security was immediately beefed up at Government House with visitors well frisked before being passed on by stern-looking security men.
