Jonathan, Shekarau raise presidential campaign bar

The Jonathan/Sambo

POLITICAL parties, campaign co-ordinators of some presidential aspirants, and religious leaders yesterday kept issues relating to the 2011 elections on the front-burner.

The Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, which traversed some states in the North, solicited the support of their audiences for President Goodluck Jonathan bid to stay in Aso Rock beyond 2011. In Borno and Bauchi states, they got assurances from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, including governors, that Jonathan and Sambo enjoy their mandate at both the party’s convention and election proper.

The ambition of Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau to govern Nigeria from next year also received the support of some members of the National Assembly, which bought the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) presidential form for him.

In Edo State, some Anglican leaders, who deployed the state of infrastructure in the country, urged Jonathan to focus on the development of public facilities and utilities to make life bearable for Nigerians.
