'Maritime Economy Pivotal To Nation's Growth'

THE event was designed to showcase and celebrate people of impeccable character and great vision who have toiled diligently to ensure that Nigeria was accorded her place in the comity of Maritime nations. The honour was in recognition of their invaluable contributions, dedication and noble service to Nigeria’s maritime industry and the overall growth and development of the nation’s economy. And on the honorees’ list were Nigerians and corporations of strong standing, all accomplished individuals and entities in their own right.
Some of the names on the list of awardees included Chief Isaac Jolapamo, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Mr. Femi Otedola, Capt. Emmanuel Ihenacho, Alhaji Ahmed Yar’Adua, Admiral Festus Porbeni, Comptroller Emma Kane, Capt. Adamu Biu, Admiral Mike Akhigbe, Alhaji Tijani Ramalan, Mr. Tony Nted, Chief Victor Odili, Mrs. Ify Anazonwu-Akerele, Gen. T. Y. Danjuma, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, Ms. Alaere Diffa, Mrs. Monica Mbanefo… the list drew on.
It was therefore no surprise that the event drew good attendance notwithstanding its late timing. Government representatives, captains of industry, entrepreneurs, family members, well wishers… people from all walks of life all thronged the Golden Gate restaurant venue of the occasion on Victoria Island, Lagos. On hand to serenade guests were different music and cultural groups. To fit the occasion too, there was a lot to wine and dine with. It was a colourful night.
