The bill titled: “Remuneration for former presidents, heads of federal legislative houses and chief justices, 2010’’ was passed separately by the Senate and the House of Representatives on March 11 and July 1, 2010 in that order with some variations and both chambers raised a harmonisation committee to work on it.
The Senate also yesterday confirmed the appointments of Aliyu Kola Belgore as chairman of the Asset Management Corporation, Mustafa Chike Obi as Managing Director/CEO, three executive directors and five non-executive directors of the agency.
The two chambers also passed the second amendment alteration to the Constitution providing that elections should hold not earlier than 150 days and not later than 30 days before the end of the tenure of the current office holder as well as the provision allowing appeal in governorship election up to the Supreme Court.
