Don’t Expect Changes Overnight In Eagles, Siasia Warns

NEWLY appointed Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, has warned that he will disappoint those expecting an immediate overhaul of the current Super Eagles because team changes will not be in one full swoop.
Siasia’s warning to Nigerians came yesterday, just as FIFA National Security Officer in Nigeria, ACP Gideon Akinsola, congratulated him on his appointment.
The 43-year-old Siasia was Thursday announced as the new Super Eagles coach on a two-year contract in the first instance, which is renewable for another two years based on performance.
After a dismal showing at the World Cup this year, Nigeria is again rebuilding with Siasia widely seen as the agent of these changes.
A member of the NFF technical committee who interviewed Siasia said yesterday that former international striker argued it would be foolish to discard the national team wholesale in the name of change.
