Nigeria to promote leadership roles for youths

THE Federal Government has stated its resolve to get Nigerian youths involved in the process of decision-making. This, it says will be done by encouraging volunteerism as a way of preparing the youths for leadership roles.

Minister of Youth Development, Senator Akinlabi Olasunkanmi, said this in Abuja on Tuesday, at the celebration of the 2010 Africa Youth Day. He explained that the Nigerian government will launch the first batch of the African Union Commission Volunteers Youth Corps to commence the process of youths preparation and participation in leadership.
According to him, the volunteers’ corps will encourage a culture of volunteerism among African youths in general and Nigeria in particular.
