Measuring Jonathan’s love for the South East

SIR: President Goodluck Jonathan has had working official visits to Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Plateau, Anambra, Imo, etc and recently, Bayelsa. Except for Imo and Anambra, which he shrunk respectively to half-a-day, visit each, the rest took two or three days.

On a day proceeding his Anambra/Imo visit, I drove from Awka to Owerri airport for a flight to Lagos. At the airport I noticed some decorations. I was told the President would visit Imo State the next day. I dismissed that and assumed that being decorated by sycophants, as usual.

In Awka, I noticed the towing of people’s cars ‘illegally’ parked along the only major road (Zik’s Avenue) in the state capital. I was wrong; it happened the President Jonathan visited the two states in one day. What an insult to the people of the zone. A few days later he had a three-day visit to his home state, Bayelsa. He has just done another two days in Ogun State; his second visit to that state within two months.
