Kidnapping will end soon – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured Nigerians that kidnapping will soon be wiped out in the country.

The President, according to a statement on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ima Niboro, stated this during an interactive session with Nigerians in Chad Republic on Sunday.

In response to a question on how kidnapping had prevented some citizens, especially from the South-East from visiting Nigeria, he said government had put in place elaborate measures to fight the menace and restore peace.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Adamu Waziri, on Monday, said that the Federal Government had ordered three helicopters and protective gears to tackle kidnapping and other crimes in the state.

Waziri spoke at the opening of a three-day biennial retreat by the Police Service Commission in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Jonathan assured that their complaints of constant harassment of Nigerians on legitimate businesses by Chadian security agencies would be addressed.
