WHY are you presenting yourself for the presidency in 2011?             Nigeria has done a lot for me; a lot and I thank my God. So, if I have something to do for Nigeria, I will do it. Now, I think and I believe that I have something to offer.
  Having learnt from the mistakes and the experiences of the presidents that I served, I can easily bring in my own experience to see where they went wrong, and if there is need for correction, I can provide the correction. And where they went right, if there is need for building on it, I will do that and continue.
It is scary that we live in a country where institution building doesn’t seem to be a priority…
  For how many years did the Sardauna or Obafemi Awolowo hold power? The Sardauna held power for eight years, from 1958 to 1966, and today we know what he did because he laid a solid foundation. That was at a time you had to book for two days before you could call Sokoto on phone. But today, you can take your phone and call anywhere in the world. The technology is there, and it has shrunk everything, and now we have a global village.
