Tafida appeals to Ekiti PDP members over Oni’s removal

Segun Oni, Governor Ekiti State
The Director-General of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, Dr. Dalhatu Tafida, on Tuesday, appealed to members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State not to allow the loss of the party at the Court of Appeal dampen their spirits and faith in the party.

Tafida, who led other national leaders of the organisation on tour of Ado-Ekiti, described the loss as “a temporary setback” to the party. He expressed hope that the party would come back stronger.

He said, “Ekiti is the home of knowledge and when you have knowledge, you won’t get annoyed unnecessarily. Don’t be annoyed because of this temporary setback.

“Just believe that nothing happens without God’s consent. Don’t give up, let’s join hands to bring back PDP even stronger and we can only achieve that if we make sure that PDP retains power at the center,” he added.

Tafida explained that he was in the state to plead with PDP supporters to continue to support the Goodluck/Sambo ticket.

The state Coordinator of the campaign organization, Mr. Femi Akinyemi, called for the urgent intervention of President Goodluck Jonathan and other relevant Federal Government agencies in resolving the logjam occasioned by the dissolution of local government councils in the state.

Akinyemi lamented the exit of the ousted governor, whom he referred to as the “Moses of our time” from government.

He said, “Until Oni’s exit from the seat of power, it is unarguable that Ekiti was one of the states in the forefront of the Jonathan/Sambo for president in 2011 campaign.

“The ‘project’ enjoyed a solid support base and permits me to say that in the entire South West zone, mobilisation had been taken to each of the 177 wards in the state. In short, we had our fingers on the right buttons,” he added.

Akinyemi described the youths as the mobilisers and canvassers that the party would rely on as foot soldiers in the Jonathan/Sambo project. He therefore called on government to initiate a youth empowerment programme for young graduates, who were relieved of their job where they were earning N25,000 monthly, following the change in government.
