The Kaduna State chapter of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation on Tuesday in Kaduna advised Northerners not to allow their agitation for zoning to becloud their reasoning in choosing a president who would bring about the socio-economic transformation of the country.
Rising from a crucial meeting held at its campaign office located along the Muhammadu Buhari Way, Kaduna, the group also resolved to ensure victory for President Goodluck Jonathan and Vice-President Namadi Sambo in the state during the 2011 presidential election.
A statement by the Director of Publicity of the Jonathan-Sambo Presidential Campaign, Mr. John Kude said, all Nigerians should support Jonathan in his bid to contest in 2011and not allow themselves to be deceived by the ‘political gimmick’ of zoning.
The statement added that the meeting held under the chairmanship of the state Coordinator of the organisation, Alhaji Abba Gana, resolved on strategies for achieving a resounding victory.
The organisation said it had resolved to pursue its campaigns within “the ambit of the law and in a peaceful atmosphere.”
The organisation also stated that the “constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has granted the right to everybody to contest elections at all levels in the country.”
