Senate demands audit report on NSE

THE Senate Committee on Capital Market has asked Director-General, Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Arunma Oteh, to officially present to it a recent audit report of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) in which several questionable transactions were alleged.

Chairman of the committee, Ganiyu Solomon, explained yesterday that the directive to SEC, which he said was based on newspaper reports, has also been extended to the NSE Interim Administrator, Mr Emmanuel Ikazoboh.

According to Solomon, presenting the report through  “the right channel” would pave the way for senators to react appropriately and take positions where necessary.

Solomon added that receiving the report from the right sources would also help prevent a situation where the document would be described as fake by those who might be oppose to its content at the appropriate time.
