Governor Alao Akala
IN Oyo State, the issue has been revolving round the major dramatis personae in the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), namely the incumbent governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, former Governor Rashidi Ladoja, Senator Lekan Balogun, Chief Yekini Adeojo, Elder Wole Oyelese and the Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin. Following the directive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the PDP SEC in the state should be dissolved and a fresh congress be conducted, the aggrieved party members in the state have been going around to arrange another round of congress. The arrow-head of the move for a fresh congress is Alhaji Yinus Akintunde, who is the chairman of the Oyo PDP Caretaker Committee said to have been set up by the party National Secretariat, Abuja.
However, the Chief Dejo Afolabi-led faction of the PDP has been insisting that the aggrieved party members are only day-dreaming, declaring that the order by the INEC was not binding on the Oyo PDP.
