Attention, President Jonathan and Chief of Army Staff

SIR: We the widows of the officers and men of the Nigerian Army who died in the C130 Ejigbo crash in the year 1992 while serving the nation wish to appeal to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika to please release our children’s school fees for the 2008/2009 session.

The delay in the release of our children’s fees which is usually paid every year in arrears has prevented our children from going back to school to further their education. Many of us are living from hand to mouth. It has been extremely difficult especially the education of our children.

It is important to note here that an upward review of the fees was approved since 2007 but the Nigerian Army only approved the new rate in 2008/2009 which is yet to be paid. Meanwhile, the Nigerian Navy and Air Force have been paying the new rate and have already paid the widows for 2008/2009 since May 2010.

The year would soon end and our fear is that they may not pay, therefore we are appealing that this anomaly should be brought to the notice of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and the COAS Gen. Ihejirika for their immediate intervention in this matter so that our children can go back to school.
