How Jonathan resolved NDDC crisis – Mimiko
Mimiko
The decision of President Goodluck Jonathan to heed the advice of governors of the oil producing states on how to resolve the crisis, which rocked the Niger Delta Development Commission, saved the board of the agency from being dissolved.
Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, stated this on Friday at a ceremony marking the commencement of the construction of the N19.4bn Ugbo-Oghoye road project being funded by the NDDC at Ugbonla, Ilaje Local Government area of the state.
Mimiko, according to a statement on Sunday, by his Media Assistant, Mr. Akinwale Oshodi, said that Jonathan displayed commendable leadership skills to amicably resolve the crisis that rocked the governing council of the NDDC
He said, ”The governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission would have, by now, been consumed by the recent crisis that rocked the intervention agency if President Goodluck Jonathan had not taken the advice of the Niger Delta governors on the ways out of the crisis.
”There was a time there was crisis in the NDDC, real crisis; and some unpatriotic Nigerians wanted the President to take some decisions against the board. The President said he would not do so and directed that the governors of the Niger Delta states should wade into the matter and give advice.”
He added, ”We met in Port Harcourt, evaluated and gave the President a piece of advice and in a honourable way, he followed the advice.”
