Football federation inaugurates panel on Ogoli

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Aminu Maigari, yesterday in Abuja inaugurated a six-man ad-hoc medical panel to review the circumstances leading to the death of Ocean Boys FC defender, Emmanuel Ogoli.

Ogoli slumped during a Nigeria Premier League match between his club and Niger Tornadoes of Minna at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Sunday, December 12 and died before medics could get him to hospital.
Maigari said the panel has six weeks to conclude its assignment and submit a report to help prevent such incidents in the future. He said the panel was inaugurated because of the knowledge that such incidents can be prevented.
“We feel very sad over this incident and we are determined that it should not happen again. That has compelled the decision of the NFF Executive Committee to put together this group of highly qualified and highly -experienced physicians to help us find a way out,” Maigari said.
The panel has as chairman a former Super Eagles medical doctor and sports physician with over 20 years experience, Abdulkadir Muazu, with Akin Amao, who is also a former Super Eagles doctor as well as Azubuike Onyebuchi and Mohammed Sani Isah as members. Christian Emeruwa is the secretary.
