Uti Nwachukwu might have remained in obscurity, but for his participation in the Next Movie Star talent hunt show and subsequent contest in Big Brother Africa 3.
Uti eventually hit the limelight when he emerged the winner of the Big Brother Africa All Stars edition this year. Since then, Uti has become a ‘big boy’ and he is wearing the celebrity tag with so much ease. He is loved by many people, especially the ladies because of his great looks and suave manners.
It was probably based on his new status that the organisers of the 2010 edition of the Soundcity Music Video awards deemed it fit to have Uti as the host of the show.
Armed with little or no experience in hosting such a big show, Uti tried as much as possible to make the event a smooth sail.
For a first timer, Uti did great and was at his best as he made a good impression. Yet, he made one or two blunders.
He first introduced Gbemi, Toolz and Rheks of Beat FM as “Gbemi and Rhecks of Toolz FM.”
That could be a slip of the tongue and obviously, could be pardoned. But when our reality show winner kept using the word ‘broadcasted’ to mean broadcast, many people in the hall felt Uti should visit his dictionary more often.
