NOC ends solidarity course for coaches

A five-day Olympics solidarity course for coaches, organised by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) in collaboration with the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF) has ended in Abuja.

The course instructor of the Federation of International Hockey (FIH) Norbert Nederlof taught the participants on different rudiments and modern technique of hockey.
The event was organised to help Nigerian coaches who could not afford to travel abroad for the mandatory courses, upgrade their knowledge.
According to the instructor, the participants were lectured on the different techniques applied in reading and analysing matches. “I taught them different techniques of the game. I took them on video analysis of hockey game; how to read your opponent and analyse his game plan. We discussed the digital and visual information of the game; the Pakistan example, Australian style and the European modern technique.”
The Dutch instructor expressed optimism that the game of hockey in Nigeria will not be the same again after the coaching course. “It is expected that if the participants take what they have learnt during this course seriously they will definitely improve on their game. We really worked hard and the result is fantastic,” he said.
