Militant group claims attack on oil facilities

A militant group in the Niger-Delta, the Niger Delta Liberation Force, led by John Togo, has blown up Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) major pipeline in Delta State.
Mark Anthony, the spokesperson for the group, in an e-mail to journalists in Warri yesterday, said, "NDLF soldiers have struck the major pipeline belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) near Batan flow in Delta State last Sunday night at about 11; 30pm. The JTF soldiers on guard were not injured and their arms untouched as the JTF commander at the location co-operated with NDLF to spare the lives of soldiers under his command. NDLF has earlier said that this second phase of oil war is not about security personnel as NDLF is not a criminal organization being peddled by Nigerian government to shy away from the root cause of the Niger Delta violent arms struggle."
The militant group condemned the recent bombing of Ayakoromor Town, and urged President Goodluck Jonathan and the leaders of Niger Delta to ask the military chiefs to concentrate on the locations of Niger Delta freedom fighters, instead of causing "terrorism again on harmless, innocent, and poor Ijaw communities."
"For NDLF, this may be the last hostility in Niger Delta, if federal government can soften its Pharaoh-like mind set to convene the post-amnesty conference, which is the bone of contention to enable aggrieved ex-militants address grey areas of the post amnesty with federal government in a round table with the US, UN and the international communities as external observers," stated Mr Anthony.
The group also ordered the task force to return the corpses of victims of the Ayakoromor military onslaught, and appealed to the Ijaw nation to accept the incidence in good faith.
