Apapa Mock Nations Cup was graces Fashola


The Lagos state governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola will on December 26, be special guest of honour at the final of the 2010 Apapa Mock Nations Cup.


The tournament has continued to produce thrills and fantastic results. Ghana Black Stars and The Bafana Bafana of South Africa battled to goaless draw in one of the games played a the Navy ground, Apapa on Saturday.
The match which was watched by a capacity crowd lived up to its billing as the two sides were in fantastic form.
The second match featuring Chad and Equatorial Guinea proved a lot of pundits wrong as the two teams produced real thrills that kept spectators on the edges of their seats. Despite their businesslike approach, the match, like the one before it ended goaless.
The 2010 Apapa Mock Nations Cup which is put together by the Apapa Youth Football Association is the oldest grassroots football competition in Nigeria. The championship is noted to have produced national and international stars like present Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia, former internationals like Henry Nwosu, Gabriel Okolosi, Tarila Okorowanta, among other.
The Lagos Stae Governament is behind the resuscitation of the age-long championship.
