Officials have revealed that former Nigeria skipper, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha, has finally indicated interest to serve on the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Officials informed MTNFootball.com that they received a written apology letter from Okocha for his absence in Tuesday’s committee meeting. Okocha did not attend the inauguration of the technical committee and speculations were rife that he stayed away in protest over the elections into the executive committee of the federation in August.
Okocha failed to make it to the NFF board, while his fellow international, Segun Odegbami, questioned the legitimacy of the polls and flatly turned down his own nomination to another NFF committee.
Odegbami has since taken his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).
Former internationals like Victor Ikpeba and Garba Lawal as well as former national team coaches, Adeboye Onigbinde and Christian Chukwu, are on the NFF technical committee.
