No vacancy in Aso Rock – Anenih

A former Minister of Works, Chief Tony Anenih, on Monday declared that President Goodluck Jonathan would win the 2011 presidential election.

Anenih, who backed his statement with his famous ‘no vacancy’ declaration, also described Jonathan as Nigeria’s ‘consensus candidate.’

Anenih spoke at the inauguration of the Goodluck/Sambo Campaign Organisation headquarters in Benin, Edo State, where he was flanked by chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party such as the Director-General of the GSCO, Dr. Dalhatu Tafida; the Chairman of the Edo State chapter, Mr. Lucky Imasuen; former governor of Edo State, Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor; Edo State PDP Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih; and the Director of Organisation, Pascal Ogbome.

He said, “Our presence here today has sent a signal and I know that the people outside are more than the people inside. We know that there is the Adamu Ciroma-led consensus candidate, we also know there is the Nigerian consensus candidate. For the Nigerian consensus candidate, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock.”

Tafida, in his address, said President Jonathan and Vice-President Namadi Sambo were good candidates and urged members of the party in the state to work towards success in the 2011 elections.
