A Lagos High Court in Igbosere has nullified the removal of the former Managing Director of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Mr. Bunmi Oni, saying that his sacking was unlawful.
In her judgment in a suit by Oni to challenge the legality of his removal, Justice Yetunde Phillips held that Oni‘s dismissal through a letter dated December 11, 2006 and signed by the former Chairman of Cadbury, Dr. Imo Itsueli, was a breach of Oni‘s contract of employment.
The judge further directed Cadbury to pay Oni‘s rights and entitlements accruing till six months from the wrongful termination of his appointment on December 11, 2006.
The court also dismissed Cadbury’s counter-claims for lack of evidence and awarded N100,000 costs against Cadbury in favour of Oni.
But the court refused to direct Cadbury to reinstate Oni.
